Introduction
The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) is the land force of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces established in 1980 through an Act of Parliament, the Defence Act Chapter 94 later revised to Defence Act Chapter 11:02. Section 211 (1) to (5) of the Constitution provides the elements of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) as the only lawful military establishments, that must respect the fundamental rights and freedoms of all persons and sustained as disciplined military forces of the nation. The ZNA is commanded by a three-star general with three two-star generals responsible for operations and training, administration and quartermaster. Under the three two-star generals are five staff branches headed by one-star generals managing the Inspectorate Department, Operations, Training, Administration and Quartermaster. Combat, training and support units representing the five staff branches are located in the ten provinces of Zimbabwe.
