Mechanised Brigade Embarks on Tree Nursery Project

Mechanised Brigade has joined hands with well-meaning corporate entities in efforts to re-green the environment through the establishment of a tree nursery project at 1 Mechanised Battalion. The project is meant to provide a nursery for both fruit and non-fruit trees as well as create a hub through which members of the formation will hone their nursery management skills. The venture is being done in partnership with Nyaradzo Life Assurance’s Friends of the Environment (FOTE) and the Forestry Commission of Zimbabwe.


Intensified Border Control Operations Help Recover Smuggled Goods

Intensified Joint Border Control operations by the country’s security forces in Beitbridge have proved effective with the forces managing to intercept and recover smuggled goods worth thousands of dollars.  In one such operation, conducted at Pandemine Base, which is about 25km east of Beitbridge Border Post during the first week of May 2021, the security forces intercepted a group of smugglers as they were ferrying their contraband across the Limpopo River from South Africa into Zimbabwe.

The National Mine Clearance Squadron (NMC), which is carrying out demining activities in Dumisa, Chiredzi South, has been hailed by locals for its continued benevolence through rendering medical assistance to members of that local community.

The Zimbabwe Defence Forces and the country was robbed of an illustrious soldier and military strategist following the death of the Commander Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant General Edzai Absalom Chanyuka Chimonyo at the Avenues Clinic in Harare on 8 July 2021.  The late Lieutenant General Chimonyo, whose Chimurenga name was Edzai Mabhunu, succumbed to cancer of the lungs.
